Sing & Sign Children’s Group

👋🏻 Hello! I’m Beccy and I run Sing and Sign newborn, baby and toddler classes in Undy, Lydney, Monmouth and Chepstow
🎵 Our classes are music sessions with a difference:
➡️ Do you wish you could understand what your baby is upset or excited about?
➡️ Does your toddler get frustrated when you don’t understand what they’re saying?
➡️ Have you wondered how your new baby learns to communicate?
• We can help •
Our 3 different age appropriate, interactive classes are full of fun and music, while we teach you how to use simple gestures or signs to help your baby understand what you’re saying and to tell you what they’re thinking.
Babies naturally use gestures to communicate with others.  Through song, rhyme, toys and props we build on this natural stage of development by introducing signs such as “milk”, “eat”, “more” and “all gone” alongside signs to do with routine such as bedtime, bath time, nappy changing and going out. We also learn signs to do with babies’ interests such as animals and vehicles.

Babes: 2-5 months at the start of term
Stage 1 : 6-14 months
Stage 2 : 14 – 24 months

Cant make a class? No problem – we have online, on-demand classes too so that you can learn the Sing and Sign approach from the comfort of home. We call it Sing and Sign @HOME.
More detailed information about baby signing, the classes and how to book your space can be found here https://linktr.ee/singsignbeccy
£5 Taster sessions are offered (subject to space availability)

My name is Beccy Durman and I am thrilled to be bringing Sing and Sign classes to the families of Chepstow and the surrounding area.

After taking a break from my career as a primary school teacher to have my children, I decided not to return but to channel my teaching skills and experience into my passion – baby signing!

I first discovered Sing and Sign way back in 2007 when my eldest son and I attended classes in Bristol. We immediately fell in love with this wonderful new way of communicating with each other and the classes soon became a weekly highlight. The CDs were listened to over and over on long car journeys and the DVDs were invaluable, keeping him occupied and reinforcing the signs at the same time. Two more children later and we were completely hooked! My two older sons even loved signing with my daughter and revisiting all the songs. It was a lovely way for them all to bond.  Signing with my children helped to open a window into their little worlds and through sign, they could tell me things that they felt, noticed and understood, way before they could have expressed it verbally. Because we always say the word alongside a sign, speech and language skills are stimulated, Sing and Sign babies turn into chatty toddlers and pre-schoolers!

I found that signing with my children helped to reduce their frustrations too. All of the guesswork of trying to understand their needs was taken away as they could easily tell me what they needed or how they were feeling. It’s just amazing when your baby starts to sign back to you.  Whether it’s to tell you that they want ‘more’ food or that they have spotted a ‘bird’ in the garden, signing enhances the bond with your little one too – allowing you to enjoy them even more!

I decided to become a Sing and Sign teacher in 2014 and have never looked back!

I would love to take you and your little ones on this amazing journey and look forward to meeting you all soon!
